Windsor Castle: This magnificent castle has been home to 39 monarchs, including the current queen. Highlights include the Royal Apartments, which contain art from the Royal Collection (including paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Canaletto) and St George’s Chapel, where a number of monarchs are buried.
Hampton Court Palace: This magnificent palace was once home to Henry VIII, and there’s plenty to explore today. Highlights include the Great Hall, Chapel Royal, Tudor kitchens, maze, royal tennis court and the extensive grounds.
Legoland: Legoland Windsor shows you just what amazing things you can build out of plastic bricks. You can visit LEGO® City, Adventure Land, Kingdom Of The Pharaohs, Pirates Landing, Knights Kingdom and Land of the Vikings. Miniland contains the greatest concentration of LEGO® bricks in the park – nearly 40 million of them.
Chessington World of Adventures and Chessington Zoo: Chessington offers a theme park, zoo and aquarium all in one location. The theme park is divided into ten exciting country-inspired zones, with many wild, and not so wild rides for all the family to enjoy. Chessington Zoo has gorillas, tigers, zebras, ostriches and many more creatures from around the world. The SEA LIFE centre, meanwhile, offers a glimpse of the undersea world.
Feltham Shopping Centre: Located just south of Heathrow Airport, Feltham Shopping Centre offers a wide range of stores including fashion, health and beauty, electronics, sport and food and drink.
Airlinks Golf Course: This 18-hole parkland links course, just east of the airport, is open to the public. You simply turn up, hire clubs, and pay and play. There are plenty of challenging obstacles, including doglegs, water hazards and bunkers out on the course. There’s also a covered driving range and clubhouse.
Wyke Green Golf Course: This is a beautiful tree-lined 18-hole course is located near Osterley – a short drive or tube journey from Heathrow Airport. The course is open to members and visitors alike.
Grasshoppers Rugby Football Club: Grasshoppers is one of the closest rugby clubs to Heathrow. Grasshoppers will play in the London Three North West league next season, so if you want to catch some competitive rugby, head to Osterley for a Grasshoppers home game.
Osterley Sports Centre and Cricket Club:
Watching some competitive club cricket is a great way to relax, and Osterley Cricket Club has several teams, so there’s usually a match going on during summer. Nearby Osterley Sports Centre allows you to hire courts for badminton, netball, volleyball and basketball, while it also has a running track. Its ideally located if you want to play some sport during a Heathrow stopover.
