Let’s not kid ourselves, London Heathrow’s a giant, sprawling airport. When you arrive – whether via a flight in arrivals or for a flight and so need to get to the right departures area – it can seem a daunting task simply getting to where you need to. For instance, if you’ve arrived at one of its four operational terminals, but need to get to another one, how best do you go about it? Here are some pointers…

Getting from Terminal 2 to:
• Terminal 3 – use the pedestrian underpass; you can request assistance should you have mobility issues (walking time’s about 10 minutes)

• Terminal 4 – shuttle trains run between Terminals 2, 3 and 4 four times an hour. (journey time’s about 20 minutes)

• Terminal 5 – Heathrow Express trains connect Terminals 2 and 3 (Heathrow Central station) with Terminal 5 and run every 15 minutes (journey time’s about 20 minutes)

• If you already have an Oyster card or a contactless payment card, you can also use London Underground trains (Piccadilly line) to get between the terminals (journey time’s about 16 minutes); you might find this a tempting option if you’ve deliberately booked a stay somewhere nearby not far from a London Underground station – for instance, a hotel near Hounslow Tube station.
